2006 is slowly winding down, but technology doesn’t slow down for anything. The WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) just ended in San Francisco and Apples head guy Steve Job has once again wowed the Apple fans with its Mac Pro system. The Intel chip merge with Apple has come to a complete circle.

The conference also covered the well-anticipated OSX 10.5 AKA Leopard but we’ll get to that a little later.

First the Powerful Mac Pro

This is any power hungry, Mac user’s dream come true. A Truly powerful machine can put any consumer base computer to shame. The system runs on 2 Intel Xeon 64-bit Dual-core CPU running 3GHz. That is equivalent to 4 CPU, which is capable of doing so much process that working on a artwork with thousands of layers in Photoshop should be a walk in the park. The expand ability is also very versatile. Hard drive upgrades can go up to 2 Terabyte of space (think of all those iTunes Music you can store!). There are 8 DIMM which slots let you place up to 16GB of RAM in there. Then there are the PCI Express slots, this system will allow the user to install up to 4 Nvidia video card that ultimately allow you to connect an awesome 4 display hook up! Imagine if you could have four of the 30” Cinema display hooked on to that!
All this of course comes at a price. Apple is selling the base system for a mere $2499 to start with your standard base setup, which in itself is very good and is even cheaper than most if not all competitors with a similar setup. But if you are one of those who have money to burn, you can customize this computer to godly specs and you would only be down about 18 grand and still have change for a nice dinner in town.

The next big thing coming out of Apple’s camp is OSX 10.5, which is expected to arrive spring of next year. In competition to Microsoft’s new OS Window Vista which is said to due out this November. Apple has been soaring in terms of their operating system’s capabilities. They are so confident that their OS is so much more powerful then Microsoft’s that they even called them copycat.

Visually Leopard looks pretty much the same as all OSX, what make this more powerful is that it will be a in 64 bit. What this mean is that data can be process in bigger loads where as in the past we worked with 32 bit process, kind of like switching from a straw to a pipe. Then there is this new software called Time Machine. Finally an easy and stylish way to backup all your information!

Everything is fully automated and you can easily “go back in time” and recover files that you may have accidentally deleted.

Next big thing from them is what they call Spaces. For those of us in the know, it’s also known as virtual desktops. Basically you have multiple desktops and are able to have a clean space to work on and switch to and from them on the fly. Very nice for those who multi-task a lot and have messy desktops.
That's is all for now, We’ll have more information of new and up coming tech gadgets, computers and other fun stuff as they show up!
